Contrary to what you might think, tomatoes grow wonderfully in the high desert- if watered and fertilized. Unfortunately, the growing season is short, and the animals enjoy them almost as much as I do! So, we’ve been growing them in a greenhouse for the last few years.
Here, I continued my exploration of their vigorous summer growth using acrylic on canvas. In contrast to “Tomatoes 1”, I worked in a faster, looser style, focusing on the forms of the fruit and leaves and the energy of the plant.
